Classic Fjord floating

A short walk from Thon Hotel Sandven brings you to the water. Meet your guide, put on your immersion suit and float beside the village waterfront.

Fyksesund Premium Fjord floating

- private boat and floating

Travel from Norheimsund in an enclosed boat and float in the roadless inner part of the Fyksesund fjord branch. The boat, skipper and guide are arranged for your group.

Change on board after floating and enjoy warm refreshments on the return journey.

RIB Safari & Fjord floating

- two experiences in one day

Start with a RIB safari into Fyksesund. After a break in Norheimsund, join a separate floating session by the village shore. Both activities are booked together; lunch and travel to Norheimsund are arranged separately.

How floating works

We help you put on the immersion suit and explain how to enter the water. The suit provides buoyancy and insulation; you wear your own warm layers underneath. Your guide stays nearby while you float. Visiting from Bergen?

Norheimsund is around 80–90 minutes from Bergen by car. Direct buses also serve the village; journey times vary by departure. The bus terminal is about 50 metres from Thon Hotel Sandven. Check your outward and return journey before booking. Transport to Norheimsund is not included.

Is this ice floating or Arctic floating?

You may have seen similar suit-based experiences described as ice floating or Arctic floating. Our floating experiences take place in the Hardangerfjord in western Norway. Floating among ice is not a standard part of the experience, although ice may occasionally be present during our premium experience in mid-winter.

Who can join?

Participants must be at least 13 years old, between 150 and 210 cm tall and weigh no more than 120 kg. Read the full participation requirements on your chosen product page.
