Hardangerfjord and Fyksesund RIB safari from Norheimsund
A boat cruise to a hidden gem in the majestic Hardangerfjord - The narrow Fyksesund branch
About the trip
Experience a journey into one of the Hardangerfjord’s most secluded fjord branches. On this RIB safari, we take you from Norheimsund into the quiet and dramatic Fyksesund, framed by steep mountainsides and seasonal waterfalls.
We head south through the strait and continue east along the main fjord before entering Fyksesund. The inner 5 km of this 10 km branch feel untouched and peaceful, creating a rare sense of stillness. We make a stop outside Botnen, the old roadless hamlet that adds a unique historical layer to the experience.
Fyksesund changes character throughout the year. During snowmelt and on rainy days, countless waterfalls appear along the mountainsides. In winter, many of these freeze into striking ice formations.
Along the way, our local captain makes several stops so you can take in the scenery. We share stories about the fjord’s history, nature and culture, giving you a deeper understanding of life along the Hardangerfjord.
