A perfect day trip from Bergen to the Hardangerfjord

Looking for an easy summertime escape from Bergen that gives you a taste of Norwegian fjord life? In 1.5 hours, you can journey from Bergen’s bustling center to the serene shores of the Hardangerfjord, where waterfalls, culture, local ciders, and fjord cruises await.

Getting there:

By public bus:

From Bergen’s main bus station, hop on the bus 925 or 930 bound for Norheimsund or Øystese. The ride itself is a scenic treat, winding through lush farmland and along pristine waters. The rides takes 80-85 minutes.

By car:

If you prefer the freedom of a car, simply follow Route E16 from Bergen toward Vossevangen, then merge onto Route 49 at Trengereid until you reach the charming townships of Norheimsund and Øystese.

Stop 1: Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall
